We help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them

Story

In February this year, Kelly and I started our training plan to do a 100k walk on 25th June. This is obviously mental, however we feel it has to be a bit rubbish on the olde joints and a tad mentally challenging if we are to raise as much money for our chosen charity as possible!

Early last year Kelly’s brother Chris was diagnosed with a rare cancer usually only common in young children. What at first was expected to be a large cyst on the kidneys has transpired to be cancer that has spread very quickly and continues to be unpredictable. 6 rounds of chemo later, Chris is soon to start a new course of therapy which will again be aggressive and will likely result in him needing stem cell treatment. Despite all this he’s in enviable physical shape (I wouldn’t wish what he’s gone through on anyone, but I’d take his sixpack over my flabby mess each day of the week and twice on a Sunday).

Young Lives vs Cancer is a charity that helps provide families with services such as with financial support, free accommodation  during the treatment of there children and tailored support for teens and young adults, enabling them to talk to a community of people who’ve been through the same experiences.

I’ll be providing updates not too often but hopefully often enough so that as many of you as possible give kindly to this amazing cause x x
