Story
Hi everyone, my name is Gary Anderson as some of
you probably already know, I challenge myself every year to do something in
memory of my daughters, Alana and Dana. This year I have chosen to support
UNICEF UK, a child-focused charity, particularly because of what is happening
at present in Ukraine where millions of children and their families are in
serious danger and are being forced to flee their homes and country – expected
to reach 5 million soon. Explosives including landmines are a daily
threat to children’s lives. Children are being separated from their
families and safe water, food, shelter, electricity etc are scarce. UNICEF is
working round the clock to keep families safe. They have been there trying to
keep children safe since the conflict began eight years ago and they are
determined to remain in Ukraine to reach the most vulnerable children and
families.
So, what am I going to do in return for your
donations? This year, I'm walking The Cleveland Way, a National Trail in
the historic area of Cleveland in North Yorkshire, northern England. It runs
for 110 miles between Helmsley and the Brigg at Filey, skirting the North
Yorkshire Moors National Park. I'm hoping I complete this in 3/4 days, between May 26th and 29th May
Please donate to help protect the children of Ukraine. It doesn't matter
if it’s 50p or £50, every penny or pound will help. Having spoken directly to a
UNICEF representative, they have assured me that every penny donated will go to
the Ukraine Appeal.
Thank you in anticipation.
