07.04.2011 Update - *Race Result for Stokesley Duathlon*.

Thank you for those who have supported me and wiched me well for my first race, personally i believe this effort to be a true success.  Across 2 races, in excess of 300 participants entered the even, with the main event playing host to 258 finishers itself.  within this race, i finished a very comendable 49th place in a time of 1hr 34min 19sec for 3mile run, 21mile bike, 3mile run.  the beauty of triathlon  being an individual multisport event, you race in age group cattegory also, so with this in mind, in the Senior event, i finished 27th.  a result i am extremely proud of saying as this (and the next in Ashington) was a B cattegory race for me, one in which i could find my feet and use to iron out any problems.

Next Race, Monday Bank Holiday 25th April, Ashington Sprint Triathlon.

20.3.11 Update - *New Event Added*

on Thursday 30th June 11 i will be partaking in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk is a very demanding but rewarding 25 mile walk, which takes in the summits of Pen-y-ghent (694metres/2276feet), Whernside (736metres/2415feet) and Ingleborough (723metres/2372feet) all in one circular route.  The plan is to complete this walk within 12 hours to join the club of those officially completing this walk.

"A little note to say why I’d love it if you sponsored my husband!

After a spending his childhood and teenage years swimming, running, cycling (and fartlekking round mallams) Garry Walker eventually found beer, girls and lorne sausage and all thoughts of exercise went out the window.  In fact, and even worse, smoking tabs was the only regular hobby our Garry undertook.

But one day, it all changed.  After giving up smoking, Garry decided a return to exercise was on the cards.  In February 2010 he got on his bike.  And then he started running.  And then he started swimming. In August 2010 he completed the 65 mile Great North Bike Ride in just over 3 hours.

In 2011 Garry has taken it to the next level.  Not only has he join a triathlon club and signed up for no less than 8 triathlons this year, not only has he gone from a whopping 15 stone to a spritely 12 stone, but now he has signed up for the Great North Run, aiming to do this in 1hr45min and complete the 13 mile course in the top 10% within 5000 of the 50000 entrants

Garry has chosen to support the Polycystic Kidney Disease Charity.  Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD or PCKD, also known as polycystic kidney syndrome) is a cystic genetic disorder of the kidneys.  Polycystic Kidney Disease is the most common genetic, life threatening disease affecting an estimated 12.5 million people worldwide.  (www.pkdcharity.org.uk)

To take part in the Great North Run has been a lifelong ambition, and your support, however big or small would make the achievement even more worthwhile!

Thank you, Charlotte"
