Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and a special thanks to everyone that has donated.
Well, what a day, I just don't remember it being that busy last time it was hard to move at all in the first mile. The first half was a little quiet south of the river and I spent most of it dancing around other runners until Tower bridge at half way where the atmosphere and crowd was just amazing.
I saw a few of the elite men and women on the other side of the road going into Canary Wharf, they were on about 20 miles to my 13 - unbelievable!. The Wharf seem to go on and on forever but I was keeping to a rock solid pace to get me home in 3h 25m but miles 20 to 23 wore me down and I just couldn't seem to find any energy for a while but recovered in the last couple of miles.
I felt sorry looking back accross the road back at the bridge to all those still on 13 miles, and just reading the messages on runners shirts and pictures of loved ones takes your mind off how heavy your legs feel.
It's surreal to run so badly along the river, past thousands of people cheering you on under the London Eye and Big Ben and down the Mall . Despite my flagging old legs I'm very proud to have finished and been part of us helping to support dougie mac. Well done everyone!
