Story
I'm fundraising for SameYou as part of the Virtual Inca Challenge and I'm hoping to raise $1500 to support brain injury recovery. But I need your help to get there! I'll be WALKING/RUNNING/CYCLING/SWIMMING 26 miles - the length of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! However why stop there when I could do the trek 6 times in one month which is a total of 156 miles. Fundraising for SameYou is important to me because in my 17 years on this planet it has been a collosal hardship to lose people to brain related injuries. I've lost a best friend/teammate over the years due to a brain aneurism and also terrible sport related head injury. I've also lost loved ones to tumors and brain related accidents, and the hole that those deaths have caused will never go away. But I'm here to help and aid in the better tomorrow for those who've suffered these terrible and uncontrollable circumstances. Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is caused by injury to the brain after birth. This includes strokes, tumours, concussions and accidents. 1 in 3 people will have an Acquired Brain Injury at some point in their lives but this is hardly ever talked about.SameYou wants to change this. They are working to break the silence around brain injury and help give people the best possible chance of recovery after leaving hospital. Any donation would help and would be really appreciated.
