From small talk to 13.1 miles

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2019 · 24 March 2019 ·
Meg Mistry and I met in line to get our LSE student ID cards. Small talk got a brewing and someone asked me what I liked to do fun. Running got brought up (ya I know, I’m that cool) and Meg, whipped around the line and replied: “HEY, ME TOO.”
Short story short: we are now running a half marathon together. But, it’s not just any half marathon…
We are running to raise money for breast cancer awareness, research, and treatment. According to the American Cancer Society, in 2019, there will be an estimated 1,762,450 new cancer cases and 606,880 cancer deaths in America alone. Every day, that’s approximately 4,830 new cases and 1,660 deaths. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women (ACS), affecting 1 in 8 women directly (NCI) and countless family members and friends.
March 2019 (the month of the race) will mark five years since Meg’s mom passed away due to cancer. We are doing this race in honor of her, and the other women and loved ones who have been impacted by cancer.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
