Story
Alright Guys and Gals,
As you some of you know I have decided to do a 300 odd mile (according to my friend Google) cycle from London (Eastcote) ok somewhat Greater London ;-) to Lands End in Cornwall to raise money for Diabetes UK since my Niece was diagnosed with it in the past year.
Hopefully....providing I don't get lost, break a leg, die or break my bike on the way there I will make it in somewhere between 4-6 days in the sweltering heat of August. Yay!
The route is going to follow below however I have highlighted the towns/places I should be passing soon.
Basingstoke Andover Salisbury Shaftsbury Sherbourne Yeovil Crewekerne Honiton Exeter Accross Dartmoor Tavistock Liskeard Penzance Lands end
If you know anyone who has diabetes or have this yourself then ignore the next part.
When you have diabetes, your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use its own insulin as well as it should. This causes sugars to build up in your blood.
Diabetes is predicted by a clear set of symptons but it still often goes undiagnosed. Diabetes can cause serious health complications including heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, and lower-extremity amputations.
Obviously this is not great and the more that can be done to prevent this and help those with it the better.
Anyway dig your card out and sponsor me and don't be tight!
Cheers
Garfield a.k.a Gareth
