On Christmas Day 2013 our mum fell ill with a bad stomach and we had no idea what was to follow.
Two months later she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Mum was overcome with stress , worry and grief as to how she would manage to get through this and we were unsure how to support her.
George Thomas Hospice helped our mum at the start of her journey with regular visits, explaining to her what the days and months ahead held in store; it put her mind at rest.
During her chemotherapy treatment ,she was treated to reflexology treatments ( which she loved so much) , was contacted regularly and was supported all the way.
In January 2015 our mum was told that she had beaten the cancer.
She celebrated with a trip to see her beloved sister in Denmark and was spoilt rotten on her birthday in May. Things were looking up at last.
In June 2015 our mum was diagnosed with cancer for the second time.
Stunned and shocked, she dusted herself down, and again got herself ready for another battle with cancer.
George Thomas Hospice excelled; they supported her through their nursing staff, offered her treatments days to take her mind off the illness and regularly checked to make sure she was healthy.
Sadly, her courageous attempt to beat cancer came to an end after a brief hospital stay , and she passed away in the company of her beloved family and friends on Thursday July 16th 2015.
This page has been set up as a thank you to all the amazing staff at the George Thomas Hospice. They made our mum's time with cancer so much more bearable with the love, care and attention they gave her and we will never, ever forget this. It is wonderful knowing that the money raised will be used to treat another person suffering cancer in the same way our mum was treated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
