Unfortunately last year we were given the upsetting news that my Grandma had developed pancreatic cancer and had only months to live. However 9 months on and at the grand old age of 94 she is still trooping against the odds and Macmillan have been there to help during this time. 

Things however have not ended there and during the start of this year my Mum has also been diagnosed  with cancer and needs an operation followed by chemo therapy. We are currently just at the start of this condition and hopeful it can tackled quickly and we can start the process of recovery and getting on with life as normal although never the same as it was. 

As a result of this and the great work Macmillan do for all suffering from this life changing condition, I am embarking on the challenge of raising £3000 for Macmillan Cancer support by trying to finish 3 Ironman events across Europe. 

Macmillan, know cancer can affect everything, not just your body and mental well being but also relationships with your family and others, your finances, family unity, personal confidence and indeed everything that we take for granted. But Macmillan help people live life, no matter what. They give people the support to hold on to who they are and what is important. Life with cancer is still life –“we’ll help you live it.” It is this great work and the help and support they have given to family and friends in the past that have made me want to challenge myself in order to give back to Macmillan.
