Story

St Gemma's Hospice is a place really close to the shop's heart.

The hospice does an incredible job at helping and supporting people going through the hardest of times.

Jenn passed away after a short time at St Gemma's, seeing first hand what a welcoming and calm place it is, we decided that we would do something stupid to raise as much money as possible.

As a bike shop we spend most of our time messing about on bikes and so decided to do something a bit out of our comfort zone to challenge ourselves.

Swimming a marathon seemed suitably daft.... a mere 26 miles or 1671 lengths of our local pool.

To break it down into manageable chunks Norna and Sarah will be swimming on average 64 lengths in a session for 3 sessions a week either before or after work for a continuous 9 weeks.

Start date is Sunday 21st February :)

We would appreciate any possible sponsorship as every penny helps.

It costs St Gemma's the following to do the vital work they do -

£450 for a days care in the in-patient unit

£325 for a patient to attend the day unit for a day

£350 for a St Gemma's community nurse to visit a patient in their own home

£100 provides a specialist bereavement session

We will be updating this page with distances swum as the event goes on...
