Hi my name is Divashya, I'm 11 years old and live in Luton with my mum, dad, younger brother and of course my younger sister who's a special and inspirational little girl which I'm going to tell you about.......

Ganaya was born at 32 weeks and on day 5 she became critically ill and was left fighting for her life with Necrotising  Enterocolitis (NEC) and Septicemia. After 3 major operations and a year in 3 different hospitals and  a roller coaster of a very emotional year Ganaya was finally allowed home and we could now start being a family, I felt relieved and happy as we could finally be together and I could finally be with my sister. 

In 2010 my mum felt Ganaya wasn't doing the things she should of been doing as a 1 year old. My mum told the doctors but the doctors kept telling us that it's fine she will do it in her own time as she's a premature baby, it will take a little while. My mum still was worried. Then at the beginning of 2011 Ganaya had a CT Scan that confirmed she had Cerebral Palsy..... This was hard for me as well as my family as we thought everything was going perfect then this bombshell hit us. 

Ganaya is almost 5 and is doing well, she uses a walker to get around and this gives her some independence, but Ganaya is unable to stand or walk unaided. The Cerebral Palsy causes my little sister lots of pain and uncomfort  as her muscles are tight. Ganaya already has phyiso twice a week and we all have to help her at home to do her exercises, this sometimes can be very hard and frustrating for her, (its totally amazing how she copes with it all as I get really upset and cross because of the pain she has to go through).

Ganaya's a very happy little girl who really enjoys school, being around her friends and family. Ganaya has from the very beginning shown so much courage and she's a true little fighter with loads of determination. There is hope for Ganaya as my mum and dad have found an operation called  Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). This is a spinal surgery that will reduce the spasticity in her legs and allow her muscles to strengthen. After this operation Ganaya will need months of intensive physiotherapy to make this opportunity work. Hopefully Ganaya's independence will grow and develop better mobility. I really hope that we all will raise enough to make my little sisters dream of walking independently and being able to join in with all her friends come true!
