We provide life-saving heart surgery to children from developing countries

Story

This is the page for the 2014 Gambia - Sand to Sea ride by a group of a dozen cyclists based in The Gambia (named above) who successfully rode the length of the country, 370 km from East to West, in just two days on 25 and 26 January 2014. They averaged over 23 km/h on the bike over the whole distance.

The group was riding for the Chain of Hope, which has been working in The Gambia since 2007, building local capacity and providing corrective heart surgery for more than 30 children from the clinics at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital and the MRC Unit, Gambia. This represents a small fraction of all those in need, but the lives of the lucky ones have been transformed by the charity’s work.

You can read more about the Chain of Hope, the beneficiaries and our ride on the Gambia - Sand to Sea web site and see hundreds of photos on Flickr.

Thank you for your support, on behalf of Gambian children and their families.
