Story
Friday 7th October our band will be releasing the track 'Memphis' which was inspired when a dear friend and former colleague of our lead singer Jon. Mick McConnell shared his experiences with us of being very seriously injured after stepping on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) whilst serving as a military working dog handler with his dog ‘Memphis’ in Afghanistan in 2011.
He recalled the moment he stepped on the IED, his treatment on the battlefield, to the helicopter rescue where his uniform was ripped off by medics and how he received two injections of morphine. He ultimately had to have his lower leg amputated and in turn was forced to leave the military.
The song is dedicated to all wounded veterans who feel that they no longer have a voice and are forgotten. From the date of the release up until and including 11th November, we are going to donate all profits made by the band to The RAF Benevolent Fund. That includes profits from iTunes, merchandise and physical copies of our music.
Finally on 12th November we are holding a charity gig in Oldham at a brilliant little venue that has a capacity of 120. We are covering all hire costs ourselves and the artists will be performing for free. We will be selling tickets at £5 each and 100% of ticket sales will be donated to the charity.
