The Unified Mile (London), 1 May 2022
The largest celebration of intellectual disability sport in Great Britain, offering Special Olympic GB athletes the chance to attend full-scale competitions for the first time in almost two and a half years.

Story

Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on Special Olympics athletes who have been disproportionately negatively affected throughout. Specific healthcare issues meant we were forced to stop all activities and events before the official UK Government advice was even announced. With no Special Olympics training, competitions or activity, life was very different for our athletes and volunteers, who often find themselves already isolated in their communities. The Special Olympics GB Summer Series of Sport is a major new format to which aims to create a sustainable format which offers competition across a wide number of sports in a safe environment while still providing a National Summer Games experience of fun and friendship opportunities. With your support, we can make the Summer Series of Sport a reality and enable people with intellectual disabilities to be reunited, across Great Britain.
