We provide expert care and support to young people with cancer

Story

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, a form of blood cancer at 22 years old back in July 2020. Following the first-class level of care administered by the incredible medical team at St. James' Hospital in Leeds I entered total remission in late October 2020 having only completed 1/3 of my treatment.

The Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Service in Leeds in association with Teenage Cancer Trust closely supported me throughout my diagnosis and treatment and continue to do so for many young people. I was able to receive treatment on a separate specialist ward with other young people making my experience far more bearable and easier to accept as I was surrounded by others my age fighting cancer. I would be immensely grateful if you could help me support the Teenage Cancer Trust by kindly donating however big or small so that other patients may carry on receiving their invaluable care and support at the hardest time of their young lives.

To help raise money for this worthy cause, myself and a few of my friends at Chadwick Lawrence have decided to take on the challenge of skydiving! The pandemic and current national restrictions are of course a hinderance to this endeavour but we’re planning to make the big jump sometime in June 2021.

A little more on Teenage Cancer Trust:

Every day, 7 young people aged 13-24 hear the words "you have cancer". Your support can make sure each of them gets the consistent, sensitive, individual nursing care and support they need, throughout their cancer treatment and beyond.

Teenage Cancer Trust's world-leading care and support puts young people in the best possible place, physically, mentally and emotionally, for their cancer treatment and beyond.

Without their expert nurses, support teams, and hospital units, young people might find themselves being treated alongside children or older people.

They might never meet another person their age who knows what they're going through and they might not get the clear communication, sense of control and sensitive, individual support every young person needs throughout a potentially life-threatening illness.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to providing this specialised nursing care and support.

So please dig deep and donate - Thank you so much!

All donations will be restricted to be used for patient activities on Ward 94 of the Teenage Cancer Trust unit, St James's Hospital in Leeds.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
