Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running a half marathon on the 9th October to raise funds for children with cancer in low and middle income countries.

Globally, 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year but the majority in developing countries die needlessly.

Money raised through my half marathon will support the work of World Child Cancer.  Our Charity provides cancer treatment and palliative care to some of the poorest children in the world.  We do this by connecting in-country medical teams with paediatric oncologists and resources from developed countries.  This creates a platform in which to share knowledge, build capacity and add value within the country to help children with cancer.  To date we have helped over 1000 children.

As Chairman of World Child Cancer I have actively supported the Charity through contacts and funding however I thought it was about time I did something that really challenged me so, I found some trainers, hired a trainer and ran my first mile back in January...

I am determined to run the 13.1 miles and I would really appreciate your support.  I have  pledged to match fund every donation up to the value of £20,000.

Thank you.

In low- and middle-income countries fewer than 1 in 10 children with cancer are diagnosed, treated or given pain relief. World Child Cancer improves cancer care for some of the world’s poorest children by creating international twinning partnerships between medics hospitals and parent support groups
