Story
Hi guys, welcome to my just giving page! Thanks for visiting and having a read! I have never done anything like this before so you may have to forgive me if it’s not perfect lol!
On Saturday 7th July I will be doing a sponsored 5km walk for a project called ‘Walk It’ created by Crohn’s & Colitis UK with my close friends and family (you’re all welcome to join in too!). So now you probably understand why I’ve created this page but what you won’t know is why...
Just to give you a brief summary of my story, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (a type of Inflammatory Bowel Disease) 6 years ago during an extremely difficult time in my life. It took quite a while for me to get diagnosed as I had to undergo various tests to determine exactly what it was that I had. Since then there have been many ups and downs along the way with many hospital admissions, operations & a huge amount of stress and pain. I have always tried to bury and ignore what I had in order to forget about it so I could persuade myself I was “normal” just like you guys!, but recently I have joined various support groups all over the world and I have realised that there are thousands of people out there just like me that are suffering with the same condition day in day out.
My main vision for this just giving page is to raise awareness for the condition that I and many other people have. As well as to raise as much money as possible so that it can be put into services that support us and help everyone all over the world to understand just what we go through and how you can all provide support. This money will be used for vital research, providing patient packs for hospitals all over the UK and finally the one I feel is most important to me, to be able to take more phone calls from people just like me when we are in desperate need of support and/or someone to talk to. The more people that know about this condition the easier it becomes for us!
I hope I haven’t bored you with my story but I just wanted to write a quick something so you know exactly why you are donating your hard earned money.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, I appreciate more than you think! Aaron.
