Story

Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page.

As part of our deaf awareness week activities, students were given the opportunity to learn the fingerspelling alphabet during lessons and form times.

They are getting sponsored for learning the alphabet and competing in our fingerspelling bee where we will test out their signing skills. Winners from each year group are given the opportunity to take on their heads of year and other staff in a final showdown at the end of the week.

We have a number of hearing impaired students at Fulbrook and through this event and our deaf awareness week, we hope to give all students the opportunity to learn more about the lives of people with a hearing impairment and how to communicate more effectively with each other.

About the charity

We are the National Deaf Children’s Society, the leading charity for deaf children. We give expert support on childhood deafness, raise awareness and campaign for deaf children’s rights, so they have the same opportunities as everyone else.
