Story
October 27th was National Black Cat Day! We celebrate black cats because they need a little positive PR. People avoid black cats for a few reasons, varying from superstition to thinking they don’t photograph well. The result is that black cats spend the longest time in shelters —an average of 13% longer than other cats. Today we celebrate the beautiful black cat, including many of our favourite pop culture black cats, like Sylvester, Felix the Cat, Cat Woman, and The Cat in the Hat. Black cats are iconic, and National Black Cat Day is a way to celebrate that!
At Frome branch, we currently have many black cats in our care,
including 10 month old Watson who came from
a multi cat household and hasn't been socialised a great deal. As a result Watson is still a little apprehensive. We are taking our time and gently building his trust.
Then there is 9 year old Neko who came in because his owner went into care. He has been with us for a while as he was initially very timid but he's really come out of his shell and just wants to be loved.
We also have Tilly who is 12 years old and came to us
because her owner died. Another nervous girl who is learning to trust and is starting to show us her true personality.
The care of each cat is costly. It covers things like food,
litter, toys, spaying/neutering, worm and flea treatment, microchipping , vet visits and of course there’s lots more.
If you could spare just a couple of pounds, or whatever you can, to help these gorgeous cats on their way to new loving homes, we would be so grateful. No gift is too large or too small.
If we are lucky enough to raise above target, any extra money will be used to care for other cats that come to us.
Many thanks in advance
