Story

Ruby was a much-loved friend of my daughter who very sadly passed away in May, aged just 18 of a T-cell blood cancer.

To celebrate her life and raise funds for CCLG, my running group 'the Friday Fitters' are organising a ‘Run/walk for Ruby ‘ fundraiser on the 1st November.

You can read more about Ruby's fund and why her family have chosen to support CCLG at https://specialnamedfunds.blackbaud-sites.com/rubys-live-kindly-live-loudly-fund

There are two ways to do this.

1 Take part in the event. Walk or run 1km, 5km,10km or 21km (half marathon!) in Brockwell Park, a place close to Ruby's heart, (or another place of your choosing!) on 1st November and ask your friends and family to sponsor you on this page.

2 Donate! If you can't take part, please make a donation here on this page to support CCLG.

Ruby's family are hoping to raise at least £50,000 to pay for a research project to find better ways of treating illnesses such as the one which affected Ruby. At present, the incredibly dedicated clinicians working in this field just don’t have a reliable treatment they can offer for relapsed childhood T-cell blood cancers. The money we raise will help to change this.

Because of COVID we cannot set up our Run/Walk for Ruby as an organised timed event, but our hope is that lots of people will participate on the day, any time, adhering to social distancing rules, and running/walking their distance of choice at their own pace.

In the gallery are mapped routes of Brockwell Park for all distances, starting from Ruby’s bench and finishing at the clocktower.

All fundraisers will be given a Ruby’s fund T shirt/vest as a thank you. There will be someone at Ruby’s bench (as marked on the route map) between 9am – 1pm handing these out. Those unable to get to Brockwell Park please get in touch to arrange delivery.

It would be lovely to have photos of everyone on the day in their
Ruby T-shirts.  Please tag any social media photos with one of the following accounts and remember  #livekindlyliveloudly #runforruby
