Story
I am currently in my second year of studying architecture at the University of Nottingham and as part of my studio project this year I am working in a team to design and build a creche in the Limpopo province of South Africa.
Working in collaboration with Education Africa and the Thusanang Trust, our group will be travelling over to South Africa for four weeks over Easter to construct the building which we will have designed. So far this collaboration has reached 2,000 children who have been able to attend the creches that we have built over the last ten years.
The Malahleha Day Care, which currently has only 14 students, is only a few sheets of corrugated metal meaning that expansion is impossible, leaving a long waiting list of children. The children and their teacher are in desperate need of a safe and inspiring place to learn.
All money donated will go towards the materials and equipment used to build the new creche, with all the students funding their own flights and accommodation. Any money given would make a huge impact and is greatly appreciated.
Below are a series of photos from the past projects and how the site currently looks.
