Story

Hi I'm Freya! I'm currently training for the Great North Challenge for The Christie Charity. I will be running the Great North Run, Swimming The Great North Swim and Climbing the 3 Peaks in memory of my cousin, Christopher Curwen. All in the space of 4 months. I was asked by Craig Evans who I met whilst training for the London Marathon last year to join his team to help raise more funds for a charity close to many peoples hearts. I would really appreciate your time to read why this is such a wonderful charity and why this is so close to my heart.

Christopher was my 'little cuz', friendly, happy and great to be around. He was 23 years old and football crazy, whether he was watching, playing or coaching children. Sadly Christopher was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in February 2009. His treatment began immediately from diagnosis over an 18 month period. This didn't phase Chris' positive and playful approach to life and always wore a smile on his face. Chris fought strongly against the disease, but sadly passed away on 29th September 2010 at 8.35pm with his family around him.

Throughout his treatment at Christies Hospital, Christopher was surrounded by a family of inspirational professionals. They gave tremendous support to both Christopher, his family and friends through a very difficult period. The work that goes on in Christies hospital deserves to be recognised and supported. Therefore, I decided to support the charity by signing up to run the London Marathon in April 2014.

With your help I can raise a significant amount to support the charity to care for special people like Christopher. Your donations would help the charity to:

1. Provide bestcare and treatment for patients;

2. Clinical trials and research to make major breakthoughs in treatment;

3. Support families and patients being treated at Christies.

The new Young Oncology Unit is currently under construction and needs specialist treatment equipment. The charity would also like your money to help buy a mobile chemotherapy unit to treat extremely ill patients in their homes.

Christopher was taken from us too early. Throughout his short life he touched so many hearts and is very much missed by us all. I am honored to run in memory of Christopher and need your support to make my challenge worthwhile.

Please please donate, every penny counts.

Thanks for your support.

Love

Freya
