Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the formation of Mencap . They are a highly deserving charity, and one that I feel a close connection to, as my Sister-in-Law Joanne has Down's Syndrome.
On July 8th 2006, at the National Activities and Diving Centre at Tiddenham, I am aiming to freedive to a depth of 60 metres, to mark this anniversary and raise money for Mencap.
This will be a challenging dive for me, as I have only once before reached a depth of 60 metres at the NDAC. In charge of my safety at depth will be my wife Laura Storm, and her team of support scuba divers - The Angels. At the surface the Saltfree freediving group will be helping me prepare and monitoring my return.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mencap will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.

PS. I would love to be able to say that the dive went like clockwork, but while the support and assistance I had from my teams did, my own performance was a little shaky on the day. My legs didn't see to understand the notion of returning to the surface! However I made the target depth, eventually managed to ascend, and didn't lose consciousness at any point (!)
I expected a challenge, and I had one.
To all of you who have donated money, time, effort and goodwill, a huge 'thank you' goes out from me and Mencap.
For those of you that would like to make a retrospective donation, that will be just as gratefully received, and the site stays open until September 8th.
