Story
Hello everyone!
Yes, you guessed it, it's that time of year again when I volunteer myself (and those unlucky enough to be around me!) to do something slightly mad and then rely on friends and family to help raise some funds for charity in recognition of all the help and support I have had over the last 3 years.
This year I've registered myself and John in what claims to be the toughest road cycling sportive in the UK...much to John's disbelief!
The Fred Whitton Challenge is a 112 mile ultra hilly (mountainous!) ride in the Lake District. It starts and finishes in Coniston and takes in the well known climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott and Wrynose all in one day!
We are setting off at 6.30am (a challenge in itself for me!) and are aiming to complete the route in around 10 hours. We truly do not know if we will achieve this, climbing is hard work on the tandem and by the time we hit Hardknott we will already have cycled around 90 miles. Add this to the fact that neither of us do "getting off", we know this is going to hurt!
PLEASE support us this year for our toughest challenge yet.
The Fred Whitton supports several charities including The Dave Rayner Fund and Macmillan Cancer Support. Sponsoring me via this justgiving.com page means your donation will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your continued support and for visiting my fundraising page.
