Story
Thirty miles. Eight Marks & Spencer's. One city. One day. One crazy idea.
Hello folks! I have raised money for Macmillan in the past through various challenges, but this year being such a tough one for everyone - I thought I needed to push myself that bit harder.
I work for Marks Spencer's who each year raise money for Macmillan (including the world's biggest coffee morning) & in September we like to do lots of fundraising. Unfortunately due to Covid-19, we are limited in what we can do in stores. So, I decided I'd run round every Marks & Spencer's in Edinburgh to try & do my bit & use all the runs I did during lockdown for some good.
Now, unfortunately, I didn't quite take into account that this would be around 30 miles, thus a marathon AND A BIT! Did that make me back down? No, of course not. Because I'm an idiot. But most of all, because Macmillan do such amazing work to help people suffering from cancer, my Mum passed away in 2009 from bowel cancer & though sadly, there wasn't much time for Macmillan to be involved - I know how utterly fantastic they are & in these uncertain times & with many treatments delayed during the pandemic - we have to try & remind ourselves how important charities are that help people through such pain & hardship.
So, my plan is, on the 25th September I'll be setting off, from Princes Street some time in the morning & I will return, some point in the evening (or perhaps the following year!) probably looking knackered - having hopefully safely navigated a route that will include: Craigleith, The Gyle, Chesser, Morningside, Straiton, Fort Kinnaird & Ocean Terminal M&S stores. Let's hope I don't get lost & end up in Glasgow!
This will be over twice as far as I have ever run in my life & do I have much training behind me?! Well, not really, so anything you can donate will push me on that little bit more to complete this crazy challenge. I will try & update you here about how things are going, & of course get the obligatory selfies (in a safe, socially-distanced manner) at each store. Thank you so much for reading & your support, even if you can only donate a few pennies - it's a cause that means an awful lot to me.
Now...I better get going.....
