Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page
In memory of our beautiful son, Frederick Thomas Macmillan Welch, who was stillborn at 16:20 on the 14th June 2023 at 38+6 weeks, weighing a chunky 8lb. He was perfect.
Losing Freddie has devastated us as a family and Sands has quietly worked in the background to offer us support and guidance during the most difficult time of our lives, and helped to answer some of the hardest questions.
Their book and video, 'In The Stars' helped us to explain to Freddie's big sister, Layla, what had happened to her little brother in the most compassionate but honest and realistic way.
We were able to stay in their namesake room in the hospital, quiet and away from the main maternity ward to spend time with our beautiful son after he was born.
Sands also provided a memory box to facilitate our making memories with Freddie in the short time we held him, things we would not have otherwise thought to do in that time, and later would have regretted. We now keep his hand prints, foot prints, a lock of a his hair, photographs and other precious keepsakes.
Freddie's passing was a huge shock to us, having had an otherwise trouble free, low risk pregnancy, so the research Sands fund into understanding why this sometimes suddenly happens, and their work to reduce the amount of stillbirths that occur every day is of great meaning to us.
Thank you for your donation to Sands in memory of our little Freddie.
