Story
Freddie (age 14) has set himself a personal challenge as part of his fundraising efforts to get him to the 2023 World Scout Jamboree in South Korea!
Over the coming few months he will be swimming the distance of the channel (21 miles), biking up the height of Mt Everest (8850 metres) and hiking the Yorkshire Three Peaks (39 kilometres with 1500 metres of ascent) . A custom made Triathlon, hopefully completed by the end of the summer holidays!
We hope this helps to demonstrate his motivation and commitment to attending this fabulous event next year and inspires you to contribute towards his total. He needs to raise £4500, as the UK scouts are asked to subsidise the scouts attending from less wealthy countries, so the money you donate will also help lots of other individuals. This triple challenge is just one of many activities Freddie is doing to raise the total value.
Scouting and Guiding aim to help all children reach their full potential. They provide training and experiences to give Young People opportunities to build lifelong friendships, grow as individuals and see as much of life as possible to help them find their own path. The World Scout Jamboree is the pinnacle of World Scouting; the largest event organised by the largest Youth Movement in the world. Held every four years around the world, the next is in Saemangeum, Korea, in 2023. The Shropshire Scouts and Welsh Guides will be rubbing shoulders with Young People from over 200 countries, and joining together in a spirit of friendship and peace to play their part in making the world a better place.
