Story
This September, I am setting myself a challenge to climb
Mount Kilimanjaro – the world’s largest freestanding mountain. Why? To support the Meningitis Research Foundation in their work to defeat a disease that affects more than five million people each year.
Meningitis is a devastating disease that can strike in an instant but have a lasting impact on someone’s life – 1 in 10 people who contract the diseases will sadly die, and 2 in 10 will be left with a disability. Whilst you can catch meningitis at any time in your life, it’s young children who are most at risk from this devastating disease and the survivors face a long battle to recover as they deal with often life-changing consequences. That’s why the Meningitis Research Foundation is so important and why they’re my chosen charity for this climb, the money I raise will help to fund their ongoing efforts in vital research, support work and continuing to raise awareness.
