Story
"the best of DMU in one person" The Adam Redfern Memorial Fund has been established to give aspiring students with a flair for media, journalism and sport the opportunity to study at DMU and make the most out of their time here before they go on to fulfil their career ambitions. The fund is in memory of Adam Redfern, who died suddenly of a heart attack while out jogging in March 2021, aged 28. Donations will enable ambitious students to pursue Adams passions and will help to boost their career opportunities with the support of the university through dedicated scholarships, bursaries and monetary awards.
Adam was a friend of mine whilst growing up and someone who I share many memories. I wanted to raise money for his memorial fund and have chosen to climb 28 mountains in England in 1 week to celebrate every year of Adam's life. I am a keen mountain climber and I know Adam loved the outdoors so this seemed a fitting way to support Adam's legacy. I will be completing walks in the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the North Pennines to complete this challenge with a mountain being classified as an English Nuttall (2000 feet high with a rise of 15m on all sides). I am planning on completing the challenge in June so plenty of time to prepare!
Any donations will be most welcome and thank you!
