Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may know last year I gave birth to another beautiful baby girl, Frankie Laura Rolfe, weighing just 2lb at 26 weeks pregnant.
The onset of my labour was spontaneous, no-one could tell me exactly why my body had gone into labour this early. I felt helpless and like I had let her down by not being able to keep her “cooking” for enough time to make her into a developed baby. I was given steroid injections to help develop her lungs, hopefully this would help her once on the outside.
Once delivered Frankie was ventilated for 3 days, put on CPAP, then high flow and then low flow, finally without oxygen on day 64 of her life.
Frankie was diagnosed with chronic lung disease at 28 days of age. Frankie also had jaundice and suspected sepsis on 2 occasions.
Finally after 74 days of my little miracle being prodded and poked we are looking down the barrel or bringing her home.
This, I know, would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the amazing human beings that work on the NeoNatal/SCBU at Hull Royal Infirmary.
The unit and the team rely heavily on donations for new equipment and training and also to improve parent facilities which my family used on a daily basis.
I am so very thankful for the unit for providing such amazing care and giving us a healthy baby to bring home.
Please if you can help in anyway by donating as little or as much as possible so that other families can continue to receive the amazing care that we did.
