March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
Hereford FC is proud to support the work of TARGET OVARIAN CANCER through a fund set up in memory of the daughter of one of our volunteers, Frank Williams.
Please read the story below and make a donation if you are able.
Ovarian cancer can be devastating. It kills 11 women every day in the UK and survival rates are among the worst in Europe. Over 40,000 women are living with the disease and over 7,000 new cases are diagnosed every year. 1 in 50 women will be diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in their lifetime. Sooner or later, a statistic that strong will affect your family or someone you know.
Radio Hereford FC’s Frank Williams's daughter, Rebecca 'Bocca' Williams, lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer two years ago, March 11th 2021, at the age of 30, A talented and popular Costume Supervisor in Film and TV production, her passing led to an outpouring of support for the creation of a fund to help fight the disease that took her away.
‘Bocca’s Legacy’ supports the work of TOC in order to achieve two main aims:
- Raising awareness of symptoms and the value of early diagnosis and intervention to improve survival rates. With early stage diagnosis, survival rates can be as high as 90%.
- Raising funds for research and support for those living and working with ovarian cancer.
