Story
By running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024, I'll be supporting research into Lupus & the care of patients at Guys & St Thomas’ Hospital.
Nearly two years ago I developed blood clots in my subclavian vein resulting in my arm swelling and turning blue in colour. Since then I have had a first rib resection (removal) which has left me with nerve damage & other further complications & I’m in constant pain each day.
I have now been diagnosed with Lupus & Antiphospholipid Syndrome which are both autoimmune diseases. Lupus is a disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues & organs. Inflammation caused by Lupus can affect many different body systems including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart & lungs.
Coming from training 2-3 times per day I needed a challenge, even if some days I really don’t feel like I can push myself, but as we know the mind can do incredible things.
I will be documenting my training on my socials & I hope you can all help me raise as much money as possible.
Thank you so much for your support.
