Story
Hi!
Thanks for taking the time to click on the link, this is just a bit of background information about the ICS program I am taking part in with the charity Raleigh.
ICS (International Citizen Service) is a government run program which sends young people from the age of 17-25 to volunteer in rural, developing communities. This program is an extension of the National Citizen Service which encourages young people to get involved in their local community, organising events and volunteering for community causes and charities. With ICS, the energy of young people is used to help impoverished communities abroad, in Tanzania, Nicaragua and India, providing them with clean water supplies and sanitation. Not only does this raise the basic living standard of these villages, but the program encourages our generation to be conscious of and actively involved in the international community. Raleigh is a non-profit organisation dedicated to international development, and it is this charity that will be conducting and overseeing my project in Tanzania.
In order to participate in this program I must aim to raise £800 for Raleigh International, so that they may continue the vital development work that strives to provide all global citizens with the same basic human rights. This money does not go towards my flights or any of the costs of my journey, but directly to the charity itself.
The purpose of this page is to raise awareness of ICS and to say a little bit about my project abroad. There is no obligation to donate, however if you do feel like contributing to the charity and helping me on my way to Tanzania, there is a link above where you can do so!
Thanks for reading!
