Story
Sadly, we all know someone who has been affected by cancer. Some may have beaten it and some may not have been so fortunate to do so. 4 years ago, my nan passed away from the illness and a year later, my grandad was diagnosed too. Fortunately, he beat cancer and is still here with us.
Dorset Cancer Care Foundation is a fantastic charity that supports people financially if diagnosed with the illness. They pay for the costs of services such as accommodation whilst out of work, overnight accommodation during treatment, domestic help during illness, transport and parking costs during treatment, wigs and prosthetics, childcare, food bills, counselling and so much more!
I was due to run the Bournemouth half marathon next month but unfortunately, I injured myself when training back in May. I have been seeking physiotherapy, but I had to put long distance running on pause to allow my body to repair itself properly. Until a couple of weeks ago, I tried a longer distance than 5k for the first time, but this does not leave me not enough time to train for a half marathon with it now only being 4 weeks to go. I didn’t want to let the charity down so I have decided to still run but do the 10k instead, which is much more achievable for me to train for with it being 4 weeks away. Please donate anything that you can to support DCCF.
