Story

Welcome to our fundraising page, thank you very much for visiting. This is my best friends story!

I am Fran Perkins, I was diagnosed with Motor neurone disease 23/12/21, but this does not define me, the life I've led, my hobbies, friends and family are what I'm about.
I grew up in Malaysia with my parents and older brother Tim, it was a wonderful childhood. I went to boarding school from the age of 8, first in Penang and later in Southbourne, college in Ebbw Vale and then trained to be a nurse in Abergavenny. I married once qualified and we had 2 sons, Daniel and Evan, the lights of my life. We loved camping as they grew up and spent many holidays in Cornwall. I enjoyed swimming, reading, knitting/crocheting and played darts for the Beaufort.
I met Mike in 09 and we got married in 19, he didn't expect to become my carer quite so soon but he's learning fast. We joined Beaufort bowls club together in 2014 and it's my passion, the club recently purchased a bowls wheelchair so I can continue for as long as possible.
Sadly, I've lost both my parents but I'm very close with my brother and his wife Julie, my stepmother Liz, and my birth family who I met in 2003, my mother Sheila, brother Paul, sister Bev, their spouses and all the nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins etc etc, too many to name lol.
I have made many friends along the way but none are more special than Jan and Nic and especially Paula who started this page and is doing everything she can think of to raise money for MND research in the hope of finding a cure or something to slow it down. I can't thank her enough xx
