Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you are aware at the beginning of the year I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. This came as a complete surprise to us, and completely knocked us as a family.
Those first early days were dark and the unknown was a daunting prospect for us all. If that wasn't bad enough, the months that followed with rounds of chemotherapy and tests tests and more tests took their toll on my already failing body. During times like this, it is true what they say, and you do see what a great network of love and support you have, and I have witnessed not only for me, but for my family as well, and for that I will always be truly thankful. That love and support from my family and friends helped keep me going, and enabled my positive attitude to falter only on the odd occassion, and I believe that this has helped me beat this cancer.
Through the dark times, Macmillan Cancer Support at QA Hospital have been amazing, and they have helped us all the way through from diagnosis, which is why I have chosen them to support in this event.
I know 5k is not a long way to travel, but following the removal of my stomach in July, I wanted to give myself a goal that was achievable to get me moving and on the road to full recovery. I am lucky to be a survivor of cancer, so I want to ensure I continue with my positive outlook and give back so that Macmillian can continue there great work and support other people and families like ours.
I will be joined on the day by Helen, Clair and Dan, along with some of our other friends, so if you fancy joining up, or cheering us on during the day, then please do, or alternatively please donate something, no matter how small.
