Story

Hello our names are Foxy and Marley we would like to introduce you to 2 amazing young ladies (of course they are amazing they are our owners) but first of all there is something special about our mums they both are not very well.
They both suffer with the debilitating illness myalgic encephalomyelitis M.E or some call it CFS actually this illness doesn’t matter what it’s called or who it affects, it can affect anyone at any time, turning your world upside down.
Marley would like to introduce you to Makayla...
Makayla was a very outgoing child who at the age of 7 swam 3 times a week, did ballet and tap twice a week, horse riding twice a week (actually her mum said Makayla’s social life was better than hers!) then Makayla started to become unwell on and off no one knew why or what but one day in October 2011 Makayla came home from a day out unwell since that day Makayla has never recovered. At the age of 8 she was diagnosed with M.E. Makayla is on reduced hours at school , had to give up her hobbies and sadly lost friends . Makayla’s world was turnt upside down but one thing she did find to be a big comfort was us her dogs there is me Marley a 2 yr old Morkie , Trixie a 3 yr old yorkie and Maddie a rescue Maltese. We try to help Makayla even if it’s just a cuddle or someone who will listen to her as this illness can be very isolating.

If Foxy can get a word in Marley she would like to introduce Sophie to everyone...
My owner Sophie was a very energetic child growing up and had so many dreams about her life and what it would be when she was older. When she was 16 she came down with glandular fever and sadly she never got better. After numerous tests and months of wondering why she felt like she did, she was officially diagnosed with M.E at the age of 17. So whilst all her friends were focusing on going out, enjoying life, planning their futures, she was just trying to get through life on a day to day basis. Missing out on most things that a teenager her age should be joining in with. After a few 'OK' years managing day by day, she had a really bad relapse which saw her life turned upside down. 21 years old and walking around with a walking stick, having to get her very first wheelchair, crying at the thought of just being hugged because of the pain, well it's safe to say these aren't the typical things that a 21 year old should have to worry about/live with. Four years on Sophie found me and rescued me from Many tears rescue centre. Even though she was the one who rescued me, she often tells me that I'm the one who rescues her on a day to day basis by just being there when she's in pain and feeling isolated and low due to her M.E.

These 2 brave and amazing young ladies this year have joined together to raise funds for their favourite charity Invest in ME. Between these 2 they have raised over none thousand pounds ! Plus helped to gain so much needed awareness to this illness. Sadly there are so many questions left unanswered about M.E but hopefully one day those answers will start to come and people can start to fight back at M.E.

Sadly at the moment people like Sophie and Makayla are too sick to participate in their own life that’s why this year Foxy and I will be helping out and running an online pet show. We can’t wait to see all the photos of your loved pets , all we ask is that you donate to this just giving page then if you would like to PM Foxy & Marley’s all about ME pet show a photo of your pet and state what class you would like them to be in and Foxy and I will get our mums on the case and put your baby on the page. I’m told there are rosettes for anyone who places,
Hey Marley did you know why ME awareness is on May 12th??? Well May 12 was chosen as it was the birthday of Florence Nightingale, an army nurse who inspired the founding of the International Red Cross. Nightingale became chronically ill in her mid-thirties with a Myalgic Encephalomyelitis -like illness. She was regularly bedridden for the last 50 years of her life. In spite of suffering from a debilitating illness, she managed to found the world’s first School of Nursing. So seems a great day to get awareness. Also seems a good day to close our completion on so make sure you get your photos in by 11.59 pm May 12th.
Good luck & thank you all so much Foxy & Marley
