Story

We couldn’t walk a mile in their shoes, but we can walk!

Katherine, Sally, Emma and Cristina are raising money for Action for Carers and their dedicated Surrey Young Carers team, who support young carers.

Young carers are children under 18 who provide practical or emotional care for a member of their family with a long-term illness, physical disability or learning difficulty, mental ill
health or substance or alcohol dependency. They may be providing practical help such as making meals, or physical help like helping their mum get dressed. They may be looking after other children or perhaps their brother or sister is the person in their family needing extra care. Young carers very often provide emotional support as well and can feel very lonely.

We are aiming to walk as many steps as possible between 4 – 13 October (one million steps is our challenge!) and raise as much money as possible for this vital service. The Berkeley Group will match everything we raise too!

Your generous help will pay for workshops, forums and time-out activities, helping young carers have a break from caring and enjoy just being kids.
