Story
Hi, I'm an amateur fiber artist who loves to crochet and to support charities.
I started this crocheted piece in honor of the fantastic work Sir David Attenborough is doing for our planet. I also wanted to support a charity but didn't know which one. So I contacted the PR Team of Sir David Attenborough to ask who took the original photograph I used as an inspirarion and which charity to support. To my surprise I have recieved a hand written letter from the man himself 😱💙 and he has asked me to support the WWF.
Meanwhile as the graphgan took shape people started to reach out and ask how can they help to support and how can they have the blanket. Contacted WWF and they recommended justgiving. So here we are: I'm asking for your support. Donate a little or a lot, with your name or anonymously.
More about the graphgan: I choose a photograph of Sir David Attenborough (photo credit: BBC) and put hook to yarn to create this blanket. It measures 200cmx135cm. It's made out of 6 different coloured acrylic yarn and is done using the double crochet stitch and a 3mm crochet hook. The back looks the same as the front just in reverse. The whole process took about 380 hours. It can be used as a blanket, a bead spread, sofa cover or tapestry. It can also be framed.
WWF is at the heart of global efforts to address the world’s most important environmental challenges: safeguarding the natural world, tackling climate change and enabling people to use only their fair share of natural resources. Together we can build a future where people and nature thrive.Your support is much appreciated.Find out more by visiting wwf.org.uk
