Story
Three years on from my last challenge and it's time to do it again - with an added extra!
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, it's also the month we lost Joanna, so what better incentive to take on this challenge in her memory.
On 7th September I'll be trekking the Thames Bridges - 25km, 16 bridges, from Putney to Tower - this time in the company of Neuroblastoma UK's Chair, Tony, and his family. Following that on 14th September I'll be running 10k around Kew Gardens - my first 10k race for 37 years (if you're local, come and cheer me on - I'll need it!).
As a Trustee of Neuroblastoma UK, I was heartened that this year - due to the generosity of our supporters - we were able to allocate £1.177mn into research projects looking for new and more effective treatments for this aggressive childhood cancer. For the next biennial grant round our aim is to double that amount. Only by funding leading research will progress be made in combating this disease and give hope to the families of children with neuroblastoma.
I really appreciate you taking the time to read this. Neuroblastoma UK relies entirely upon voluntary donations to continue its work and I send my very grateful thanks in advance for any contribution you are able to make.
Shirley xx
