Story
Dad was a very fit man, was a strong runner, even in his early 60s, and also played squash for Tring Squash Club on a regular basis, up to a couple of years ago. He loved the competition! Sadly a couple of years ago he was diagnosed with a rare form of spinal cancer and despite his positive outlook and fight on Tuesday 18 Jan he left us to be pain free. Mum, Jess and I, our families (along with his older brother and sister) will miss him terribly; as will I am sure everyone who had the pleasure of spending time with him. He was a funny, kind, positive, grateful for everything kind of guy. The best kind of guy.
Rennie Grove and Florence Nightingale Hospice both helped him and us. We will also raise money for Rennie Grove separately, however the team at the Florence Nightingale Hospice were so kind, supportive and, above all got dad’s pain under control, which allowed us to share one last Christmas as a family.
Florence Nightingale Hospice is more than a Hospice, and this is more than just a challenge. Completing 20 miles each day for 4 days will be a mental and physical push, however it's all for an amazing cause. Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity commits to raise £1million each and every year to ensure the incredible services can continue, such as the new Hospice at Home service which ensures those wishing to remain at home can do so whilst receiving the same high standard of care they would as an inpatient. Without supporters becoming part of Team Flo and taking on challenges whilst raising funds, the Hospice services just would not continue. Every penny counts so please donate what you can and cheer us on through the miles to come!
