We Help overcome poverty in Africa to achieve self-sufficiency & food security

Story

To celebrate the importance of being outside we are going to
focus on a charity very close to our Forest Rock Family, which has been founded by one of our Families, Love Support Unite

To do this, On Thursday 26th September, extreme weather conditions permitting, we will be holding a sponsored ‘Outdoor day’. On this day we intend to spend the entire day outside, including our meals and sleeps. Jaine, the nursery chef, will cook outdoors for the day and Kariena, will take her work outside for the day too. We will be holding this event especially
to raise money for our chosen charity for the day, Love Support Unite, to help families in Malawi.

Love Support Unite is a charity based in Malawi, LSU is a
small grassroots charity. The running costs are kept as low as possible at below 15% of funds raised so that where possible 90% goes directly to projects in Malawi.

The charity supports under privileged families to become
self-sufficient with a leg up rather than a handout.

Through integrated community-based projects using
sustainable infrastructure and resources including clean water and energy. They create self sufficiency and food security breaking reliance on aid and disrupting the cycle of poverty.

At our event we will have a guest speaker, Nina Roots who is the co-founder of the charity. Nina will talk about the great thing’s her charity provides for all the children and their families in Malawi.

We empower people to become self-sufficient, with a leg-up rather than a hand-out. Community-based projects that integrate education, enterprise, environment, nutrition and health, lift communities out of the cycle of poverty into a cycle of sustainability.
