In memory of Emma Horrell

On Tuesday 11th January, we were devastated to learn that our beautiful friend, Emma, had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She was only 31 years old and had suffered a cardiac arrest at home.
Emma was an incredible and inspiring person who truly lived her life to the full. She was an intelligent and compassionate doctor who had a glittering career ahead of her as an academic psychiatrist. She was talented at crafting, often working on projects to gift to her friends. She also enjoyed running, cycling, climbing, playing hand ball and watching ice hockey. Her fiancé, Bob, was her soul mate and we were so looking forward to their wedding in July.
Emma sadly lost her mum to similar circumstances in 2017. Following this, Emma pushed herself to take up running and completed a number of races including half marathons and a triathlon. She was passionate about raising awareness of cardiomyopathy and raised huge amounts of money for charity. She also worked tirelessly crafting face masks during the pandemic to raise money to buy a cardiac defibrillator for her running club.
We would like to raise money for CRY (cardiac risk in the young) in Emma’s memory as it was a charity that meant so much to her. Thank you for helping us to honour Emma in this way.
