Over a couple of pints a group of golfers discovered a common interest in cycling . Deciding to take on a substantial challenge, and wanting their efforts to do some good, Team 'Fore In Legion' was born, Paris was the destination, and The Royal British Legion the beneficiary.
One of Matt's relatives, Stan Bradford DFM, was a WWII Bomber Command veteran and in keeping with the Royal British Legion's theme of 'Live On', it was decided to ride to the memory of all Bomber Command personnel.
Sadly Stan passed away in July this year but he did know we were doing this ride. He gave Matt his miniature medals to wear during the event which he will do with pride.
This year also sees the opening of the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincolnshire.
The fund raising target was easily decided, 10p for every member of Bomber Command who was killed, - just 10p. This means that a donation of £10 will remember 100 lives and support a Veteran living in our community now.
Every single penny you donate will go directly to the British Legion. We have all paid for the trip outright so only the right people benefit.
The team are selling space on their tour shirts for £100 a logo, and these will be worn with pride throughout the event and a long time afterwards.
Please help Team "Fore In Legion" reach their target, remember £10 for a 100 lives, not much really.
