Hi there
On October 19 I will be running the marathon in Amsterdam. This, in itself, is a pretty tough challenge but, this year, it's going to be even more of a challenge on account of the normally tough training regime being constantly interrupted (for reasons far too dull to go into).
The good thing about the Amsterdam Marathon is that you can choose to do the half if you can't manage the full marathon...which I was tempted to do....but where's the challenge in that? So, it won't be quick...and it most definitely won't be pretty....but one way or another, I'm going to get round the marathon. My personal best is 3:56 and I think, this year, I'll be lucky to get round in 5 hours...but I'll definitely get round.
So please please give generously in memory of my brother, Simon....who died of cancer in 1999 and who we still miss every single day.
What makes this even more special is that I'm running on what would have been Simon's 54th birthday....so how can I not get round!
