Story
My name is Nathaniel McMurray. I am an 18 year old Private Pilot from Manchester.
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a pilot. At the age of 14 I had my first flying lesson and shortly after my 17th birthday, I passed my final skills test - qualifying for my Private Pilot's Licence. Recently I started to think about how I could use my licence to make a positive impact.
As I am a member of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, I wanted to somehow give back to the ex-service personnel that I so greatly respect. As such, I decided that starting May and continuing until August 2023, I would use my passion for aviation to make a difference.
Firstly, I decided that I wanted to raise money for The Royal British Legion through a Just Giving page as I believe that they are a worthy charity deserving of funds. I hold the opinion that their work, providing support to past and present service personnel is imperative.
Secondly, I wanted to set myself an ambitious challenge. I have access to an aircraft courtesy of High-G Flight Training that I will use for the events. I will take a total of 100 Military Veterans flying out of Barton Aerodrome over a 4 month period. Holding a monthly event, each time taking up numerous Veterans for a short flight in the aircraft. The monthly flying events are open to the public, there will be food, live music and entertainment at each date.
Saturday May 20th, Saturday June 17th, Saturday 8th July and Sunday 20th August.
I hope you will be interested in donating to my Just Giving page, I am funding the events myself and all proceeds go directly to The Royal British Legion to fund their important work.
