Story
Next summer I will be heading to Uganda to take part in a volunteer project with Play Action International! I will spend my time living and working within a local community, helping to build a playground in a school and running creative play sessions with the children. I will also get the opportunity to take part in a trek to find the last remaining wild silverback gorillas!
Play Action International strive to ensure that every child can access their right to a childhood. They have built over 300 playgrounds across Uganda in schools, community centres, and refugee settlements, benefiting the lives of 300,000 children. Play is an integral part of childhood and something as simple as a playground has a huge impact on a child's development; they have proven to increase school attendance and enrolment, reduce antisocial behaviour and increase the perceived importance of children having their childhoods. I am excited to have the opportunity of being part of a group who will help create a space for local children to have fun, make friends, and play together.
Any sort of donation towards this amazing charity would be much appreciated to help improve these child's lives in ways no other form of education can.
I have set up a fundraising page on Instagram where I am selling handmade ink sketches - check it out here https://www.instagram.com/flosaralis_fundraising/
I am also fundraising for my flights, so any money that I raise above £2,200 can be reimbursed by Play Action International to me (upon request), up to the cost of my flights.
Thank you!
