The next few months may demand more of us all. But, with your help, well never stop caring. No matter what. Well continue to work tirelessly with families, friends and individuals to ensure that no one is ever left to cope alone.

Story

This month I will be swimming 12km (7.5 miles) to fundraise for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, in memory of my mum Clare Young.

I have chosen this number as it is the distance between my mum’s home in Gloucester and the hospice.

I am doing this to give back to the hospice that provided incredible end of life care for both my mum, Clare in 2020 and stepdad Ken in 2015.

The hospice is an amazing place that my family and I are so grateful for. I would like to continue supporting the hospice to keep my mum’s fundraising legacy alive and to help the hospice provide care and support for other families.

Last year, Sue Ryder nurses and Leckhampton Court Hospice provided 130,000 hours of support to patients and their families.

Palliative care is free, but it costs the hospice £3.6m per year to provide it, which equates to £10,000 per day.

Ps. Did I mention I’m doing this in a very, very cold pool 🥶
