London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
In August 2014, my Auntie passed away just five short months after a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Toontie (or Yvonne to some of you) played a huge role in my life and she is sorely missed.
In 2015 I ruptured my ACL while playing hockey, and one year later I underwent knee surgery. I returned to the hockey pitch successfully and now I would like to challenge myself further by running a marathon which will be in memory of her. I initially hoped to run the marathon in 2020 but it was postponed during the Covid pandemic. Thank you to everyone who generously donated at that time.
Leukaemia Care is a charity that supports patients, families and friends affected by Blood Cancer. The stats show that the big “C” is going to affect us all in some means during our lifetime, and therefore it is vital to not only fund the research but to fund the necessary support that is needed by those that are impacted by the terrible illness.
I would be extremely grateful for any more donations and in turn I am going to bound the streets of London on 23rd April 2023 for an important cause and in celebration of such a truly fantastic woman.
