Story
Going for a run and listening to music or podcasts has been a lifeline in lockdown. I used to run with nothing but my own thoughts; now confined to the repetition of staying home and injuries making jogging much harder I needed the escapism of something to listen to.
So I jumped at the chance to run, listen to music and raise money for much needed cancer support. Roy's Retro Running Series is a challenge to do between one and five runs between 5km and 42km (marathon!) before the 31st March 2021 each with a different music decade theme.
I've pledged to do five half marathons - 5 x 21km in 2021. Plus I'm chucking an extra marathon in for good measure! Hopefully my hamstrings are up to it!
I'll be listening to a bunch of music and spoken word I've got into In the last year which I'll share as I train and do the big runs, with a very loose and tenuous link to each decade.
I'll be grateful for any spare change, whether it's 21p or a few quid. It's not the biggest or most exciting challenge in the world but it's a big one for me to get back on track with running and fitness and prove I can best my half marathon time. And any cash raised for supporting cancer charities during covid is worth it
